Petting Farm And Valley Zoo Field Trips

Last Wednesday (August 10), Churchill Manor - a retirement home in our neighbourhood - invited our children to visit with the animals from the Thistle Petting Farm! The children enjoyed playing with the animals, which included bunnies, pigs, goats, a rooster, a sheep, a lamb, and even a wallaby!
The children also went on a field trip to the Edmonton Valley Zoo on August 11. Lucy, the elephant, put on a show for the spectators, and the children were wowed by the performance. There was a lot of wonder generated by the red tailed monkeys as they were actively swinging in the trees, the Siberian tiger who was lazily laying in the sun, the many species of birds, and the enormous snakes. Conversations, role playing, and excitement about these excursions is still being heard at Tawa Montessori Daycare.
It was a great week for the children to play and learn about different animals.
