Learning about the Food Bank

Re: Learning about the Food Bank

This month, children have been learning about the holiday season and the importance of sharing.

Since the Tawa Building has an annual collection box for the Food Bank, we decided to tie in our theme with the children going to the Southside Women’s Health Clinic. On Friday, December 9, 2011, each child from the Blue Room, held a can of food, and sang:

‘This is the way we share the food, share the food, share the food

So people are not hungry”.

as we walked across to the Clinic where the Donation box is placed.

The staff and patients at the Southside Women’s Health Clinic were happy and excited to see the children putting in cans of food into the Donation Box.

This exercise had a big impact on the children as it brought home to them how people appreciate this action and sharing food is important!

We would like to thank all the parents and staff who have contributed generously so that the children can benefit by learning about resources in our community.

The photographs depict the story of how this happy event unfolded.
