Fruit Salad Yummy Yummy

The children in the out-of-school care room walked to Sobey’s (a grocery store close to our Centre) to select an assortment of fruit. We had planned on making a fruit salad to be enjoyed for afternoon snack. They picked a cantaloupe, some plums, grapes, bananas, nectarines, and apples.

They were involved in cutting up the fruit and feeling the different sizes and textures of individual fruit. The comments expressed by the children were that fruit is fun to cut, feels squishy, cool to the touch and certainly YUMM to eat!

The fruit salad was a huge success (I am certain because they got to pick and prepare it) and most of the children had two to three servings each. Great amounts of Vitamin C and all that good stuff, don’t you agree?
