Apples,Apples and more Apples!

We were fortunate that staff could bring in crab apples from their gardens.

Children enjoyed eating apples and cookies, apples and crackers, etc. We even ventured to make some home-made apple jam that will be consumed through the winter.

Some of the apples were damaged by the hail and were not edible. So we cut up these bruised apples and the children created wonderful paintings with apples.

This theme was thoroughly enjoyed by the children and staff took the opportunity to walk the children to Sobey’s (our nearest grocery store), where they so the different varieties of apples available. We purchased a green apple and a red apple that the children chose for snack. The children sang. “I like to eat, eat, eat apples and bananas” to the bakery staff at Sobey’s and were rewarded with a cookie. Delicious and Yummy!
