This One's for the Ladies!!!

Tawa has spent the week gearing up for Mother’s Day! All the play rooms were busy with the children learning songs and listening to stories about the things mothers do to raise their children.

In the Infant Room, the children each made a card and flower by coloring a Styrofoam cup. Once they were finished coloring, the staff cut the cups up and ‘voila!, a flower was created!

The children in the Toddler Room planted seeds in different pots, and are growing beanstalks to show their mom’s. Each toddler also shared their feelings of love and talked about all the great things their mother’s do for them. The staff wrote their comments down and posted it on the board for everybody to read. It was a sweet moment to see the mom’s ‘oohing’ and ‘aahing’ at what their children had to say!
Preschool children created a garden by painting pieces of Styrofoam. They made flowers with crepe paper and recycled materials. It looked like we had a little piece of the Devonian Gardens here while they were busy finishing their creations!
Finally, the children in the Out-of-School Care room spent a lot of time sewing up a card, and they will be sharing these with their mom’s soon!  Children sewed a tree and a flower card to show their mom how their love for her grows on, and on, and on. A few commented that this was a worthwhile activity as they got to create a one-of-a-kind craft for their mom, even though a few fingers got poked. Ouch! They are also working on writing a letter of love and appreciation to share with the special lady in their lives. I am sure many of them will shed a tear or two when they see this special gift.
To all of our families of Tawa Montessori Day Care & Out-of-School Care, we wish you each a joyous day and hope you enjoy the weekend! See you all soon!
