The Tawa kinders and staff looked up what the solstice means on the internet and there was a big discussion on how this happens. They looked up the charts on the Solar system and understood how solstice occurs.

In celebration of the June solstice, children drew up the sun and came up with ideas on how to show this science phenomena in the play room. They drew and decorated their own hands on a variety of colored papers, which were then taped to the sun. This was a fun project and a lot of ideas were discussed as to which place of honor the sun should be placed on.

All of us are going to keep a watch this evening to see when the sun actually disappears
